Scouting Notes

What will you get with Roy Thomas? 100 walks, 100 runs, at least a .350 OBP, and all the power of a burned out light bulb. You also get Vg defense and very few errors. Thomas' salary will wind up to $13M and then down to $11M. In a standard league you will want to consider buying in at $11M but stay away much beyond that. And you have to consider the idea that if you do pick Thomas in a standard cap league he will not hit with enough authority to drive in your 7-8-9 hitters. In higher cap leagues, though, he's a perfectly acceptable play even at $12M. Alternative pick? Brett Butler. Because his glove is only AV and people buy into the idea you must have superior defense in CF he'll always be much cheaper than Thomas.
